Volkswagen automobiles are all set to launch a future of their leading model Vento as Volkswagen Virtus in Indian markets by 2021. The design of this model will be performed on MQB-AO-1N platform. Accompanying Volkswagen Virtus, the update of Skoda Rapid would be launched through the same platform keeping the basic underpinnings of both the cars alike. The leading automobiles of Indian market, Skoda has recently announced its take over for maintaining and looking after the development of future cars by Volkswagen group in India. The Czech automakers foundation for developing future Skoda Thus simultaneously Volkswagen cars in India. The very first product of this revolution would be SUV based on vision X concept and is expected to be in India by 2020. Following this, the Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento would be launched on same platform. This update of VW Vento would have a stage name as Virtus.

Upon the launch of Virtus in Indian markets, the retirement of Vento is made sure by VW group. This update will replace the present models of Volkswagen Vento. Current Vento is designed as per PQ24 platform which will be changed to MQB-AO-IN platform in its update. MQB-AO-IN is platform with also underpins next generation VW Polo, India. The Virtus would have greater dimensions than Vento. The leading car on grounds of cabin space and class, the Maruti Ciaz would be a tough competition for Virtus. The increase of nearly 5 cm in wheelbase assures more space in interior of Virtus. Giving a slight difference in its front-view and rear view booth, the Virtus is expected to have a great impact on markets.

The highlighted features here are new integrated spoiler and refreshed tail-lamps. On the inner side, the car comprises of 10.2 inch TFT digital speedo console and 8-inch touch screen infotainment system. The heaviness of Virtus is expected to be lesser than Vento as it is designed as per the new platform. As a result of lower weight, the coming VW Sedan is capable of boosting higher performance and fuel mileage than Vento. The engine specification include 1.2 litre TSI turbo Petrol and 1.5 litre TDI turbo diesel.
The Virtus will probably make its entry on South American market later this year. While, the Indian customers have to wait for this model till 2021. The prices of the Virtus are expected to be a bit higher than that of Vento due to addition of these ultimate features. The base selling price may be set as 8 lakhs going to 13 lakhs for top model. Although, the new Virtus is based on modern platform, the engines are likely to be picked from VW’s current chart of engines. The 1.2 TSI and 1.5 TDI will be inherited from Vento. The 1.4 TSI will come from Jetta sedan. These three engines are expected to provide extreme efficiency and high performance. Transmission options should include, 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic. As, the Volkswagen have used these three engines earlier, so their offered mileage is quite predictable. The 1.2 petrol variant offer 15 KMPL. The values for 1.4 petrol and 1.5 diesel are supposed to be 13 KMPL and 16 KMPL respectively. Thus the mileage is higher than that of Vento.
The Volkswagen Virtus India is made to have features like, LED headlamps, LED taillights, alloy wheels, ABS with FBD, airbags and many more to provide convenience and efficiency in drive. The Virtus sedan may have many features matching to those of Polo hatchback. The look of Virtus would be evolved from Vento. Elements like headlights, front grille, and many body panels will be fond as match of Polo’s look. The architecture of car based on MQB-AB would make it lighter, longer and wider. The sedan would be extremely spacious and comfortable.
